Leona’s Custom Hats & Red Squirrel Gifts Brings Specialized Craftsmanship to Madison Avenue

December 14, 2025

A new boutique located at 15210 Madison Avenue is offering a highly specialized retail experience grounded in craftsmanship and personalization. Leona’s Custom Hats & Red Squirrel Gifts, owned and operated by Lakewood residents Brad and Shay Fishbaugh, opened its storefront this past summer and has quickly become a destination for custom-made hats, permanent jewelry, and handcrafted goods.

The business marks a new chapter for the Fishbaughs, who previously sold their work at makers markets across the country and from a studio space in the Screw Factory. Their decision to open a permanent retail location reflects both growing demand and a desire to establish deeper roots within the city.

The shop’s custom hat service is led by Brad, where he works with each customer to identify the right size, shape, and material based on intended use, personal style, and budget. He then hand-shapes, trims, and steams the hat to get the right style and ensure a proper fit to the wearer’s head. Customers may further personalize their hats through custom brandings, laser engravings, hat bands, feathers, pins, and other embellishments. The fitting process is described by the owners as a full-service experience designed to guide clients through each step.

Shay oversees the boutique’s permanent jewelry service, which offers more than 150 chain options. The welded pieces—available as bracelets, necklaces, and anklets—are custom-fitted to each customer. The shop also provides metal stamping and engraving services and can complete both single-item and bulk orders, including pieces such as glassware and slate coasters.

They accept walk-ins but also offer private appointments for customers seeking a more personalized experience. The business hosts private events in-store and can travel to outside venues, including corporate functions and private parties. Inquiries for bookings may be directed to leonascustomhats@gmail.com. Their hours vary and are currently posted weekly; check out their Facebook and Instagram for updates.

The boutique carries an expanding inventory of goods, including leather belts and purses, fine silver and turquoise jewelry, custom patches, candles, and other gift items. Chocolates will soon be added to the selection, and gift cards are available as well.

The shop is also partnered with Destination Cleveland, the region’s nonprofit tourism and destination marketing organization. From custom hat fittings to specialized jewelry services, the couple aims to offer a distinctive retail experience rooted in craftsmanship and local connection.
